Grousewoods - North Vancouver
This is the home garden of Elements Landscape Designs. The property backs onto a street and the yard was very exposed. The first step was the addition of a fence and large trees for screening. The slope was terraced into different levels to create usable space. Stairs from the main upper level deck were reconfigured to down to a new lower level covered deck with lounge seating and outdoor gas fireplace. A stepping stone pathway planted with creeping thyme and Scotch moss groundcover lead from the deck to a lower level bluestone patio, which is the perfect spot to read and watch hummingbirds that come to feed at the fuchsia. Finally, a new deck off the design studio leads into the garden.
What started out as a very sunny site with no privacy has evolved into a secluded garden with dappled shade and several areas to relax and entertain. The gardens have provided the canvas for experimenting with colour, form and texture of planting combinations.
